ON THE MEND: A Visible Mending Course
January 26- February 27, 2026
Ā
An interactive, dynamic, five-week, online mending course to stitch, patch, darn, and expand your textile repairs. Class is interactive for five weeks but you'll have access for four months.
Ā
I only offer this 5-week mending course once each year. It's a comprehensive class on hand-stitching repairs on various textiles with in-depth student support.
Ā 1. Weekly video lessons.
Professionally-filmed and edited tutorials with high-quality visuals and sound. (These are not DIY videos--these are carefully filmed by a videographer.) They are comprehensive, step-by-step video tutorials not found elsewhere. Imagine my mending book, Mending Matters, but in video form with my daily support for any questions or comments.
Ā 2. Detailed tutorials & much more.
Full mending tutorial videos on various woven textiles (like denim jeans or linen tops) and introduction to darning (on knits like sweaters or gloves); insights on favorite tools and materials; numerous design tips; samples of finished work on various textiles; weekly featured artists; numerous resources and more.
3. Daily written lessons.
In addition to the videos, each weekday you'll receive an original written lesson with photographs; a creative prompt to help you go deeper with that week's theme; or a feature on one of my favorite contemporary menders/ textile artists. You read these at your own pace. And you can respond in the comments of each daily lesson--there's no such thing as too many questions or insights.
4. Interactive private community.
A private community classroom will provide multiple opportunities to share your work with other participants, post photos of your work-in-progress, and glean insights from the class community. You'll probably make a mending friend too.
5. Weekly live studio sessions.
The course is designed to be self-paced and I respond quickly to any questions in the lesson comments. In addition, there are weekly, live, 45-60 minute FAQ sessions with me, Katrina Rodabaugh, to answer any questions, share additional insights, and offer added support. All live sessions are recorded to view afterwards. (These sessions are not necessary for full class participation, just offer added support. Tentative times are listed below.)
6. Access for four months.
This course is designed to participate weekly for five weeks from Jan 26- Feb 27, 2026. In addition, you'll have access to the recorded content for four months until May 26, 2026 to review videos, writings, photos, FAQ studio sessions, etc.

Don't hesitate to sign up for Katrina's courses. They are delightful, informative and provide a real sense of community out there for hand crafters and those who are curious and want to learn.

This course is a wonderful foundational course in starting a mending journey. Its slow progression allows for you to take it at your pace and apply new techniques as needed.
--Laura D.
I loved the format and structure of the course. I now have so many resources for continuing to mend on my own, beyond the end of the course! I especially love the possibilities of exterior patches, as a way to creatively engage with my clothes, even if not torn.
